My research and instructional work is in the broad area of solid mechanics. In my lab, we study coupled "multi-physics" phenomena in the mechanics of solids through continuum-mechanical theory, finite-element simulation, and experiments.
I'm passionate about this topic area both as a scientific pursuit and for practical engineering design and analysis.
Beyond research, in my spare time I enjoy reading science fiction and fantasy, walking my pet greyhound with my family, and playing upright bass in jazz combos.
